T House

The T house is a vacation home located in the Loire estuary. It is an addition to an existing XIX century stone building which takes place on a large property along with other heritage buildings. Built on the edge of the property, the old house had an orchard neighbor for over 100 years. The construction of a housing estate in place of the orchard forces the owner to reconsider the future of his home.
Designed as a screen to protect intimacy from the garden, a long and narrow building (30x5m) was added to the existing house. The interior of the old house was dismantled to be reorganized with the new part as a unique project structured around three patios. The Interior Patio, widely open to the sky, works as a hub to give access to the main function of the house. The two others are exterior, the Oak Patio gives room to an old tree and the Hydrangea Patio hide a terrace for the morning yoga session.
